Phoenix House is currently seeking a cook at our Dallas Academy location. The cook is responsible for meal preparation, supervision of clients and ensuring the daily clearing of food service area and dining room.



•High School diploma required

•Valid Texas driver’s license required


•A minimum of 3 years food preparation and kitchen experience is required

•Food Handlers Certificate required

•Experience working with youth is preferred


•Maintain inventory of kitchen and food supplies.

•Ensures timely and appropriate preparation of 3 meals and 2 snacks per day as scheduled per menu.

•Maintains food handler permit

•Assist with kitchen inspections, health department inspections, fire department inspections and documentation of kitchen equipment checks and verification. Routinely inspects and ensures all equipment is running in accordance with manufactures instructions.

•Provide client supervision when clients are in kitchen and dining room.

•Follow routines for ensuring all food items are of quality content and will ensure proper rotation of food items.

•Provide specialized menus for client events. Provide special needs diets as needed for clients.

•Maintains and submit documentation in a complete and timely fashion to meet agency standards and funding requirements, such as the National School Breakfast Lunch Program.

•Assists with the planning, ordering and stocking of food and kitchen supplies.

•Follow policy and procedure when preparing, cooking, and serving meals according to Phoenix House policy and procedures, which reflect the minimum expectations according to health department codes.

•Adheres to and promotes the Phoenix House mission and values. Acts as a role model to clients and other staff.

•Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
