Lake View Terrace Academy houses 13-17 year olds. LVT residential services programs provide a broad spectrum of services to adolescents residential and outpatient treatment, education and prevention services, and sober living and recovery support for males and females. We are currently seeking a Treatment Assistant for our program. The Recovery Support Specialist position is dedicated to support counseling staff in day to day operations.
We are currently seeking a RSSIII. The position is responsible for the provision of clinical services to clients and their families, and for developing treatment plans and ongoing clinical documentation in the clinical management system.
This is an entry level counseling position operating with close supervision from a higher level counselor. In adolescent programs s/he may be described as a child care worker.
*Evening and weekend shifts may be required.
*Candidates with experience providing services to adults/adolescents with substance use/abuse disorders will receive supervision/support with acquiring registration/certification upon hire.
•Bachelors or higher degree in Behavioral Science
•Must be certified as a Drug/Alcohol Counselor
•Must possess and maintain a valid California Drivers license and a driving record that allows for operation of company vehicles – so as to have capacity to transport program participants in the company vehicle to scheduled court appearances, doctors’ appointments, other off site appointments and events, as need be
•2-3 years progressive experience providing or coordinating social services, preferably within a drug or alcohol treatment setting or transitional housing environment [For adolescent programs must show at least 24 months experience working with adolescents for first level counselor (C I) and at least 36 months for all other levels]
•Practiced in performing primary counselor duties to clients and their families including screening and intake, psychosocial assessment, client and family orientation, development of treatment plans, crisis intervention; group, individual, family and didactic sessions, discharge summary and planning, case management and coordination of treatment services with probation, school and other referral sources
•Demonstrated competence supporting the program participant care approach of Gender Responsive and Trauma informed milieu by providing integral supervision to assigned activities and functions.
•Experience in deployment of crisis communication and evasion techniques, in the event that program participants display hostile or volatile behaviors which may cause bodily harm to self
•Ability to monitor med-call lines
•Capacity to collect specimen from program participants for drug screens in accord with the Phoenix House Policy and Procedures
•Responsible for timely and accurate completion of client notes, charts, reports, and other documentation related to the treatment and progress of clients in the program
•Capability to work in a fast paced environment and to make decisions independently and communicate effectively when dealing with clients, families, other staff members, department heads, visitors, external agencies and community members
•Competent to establish and consistently enforce appropriate boundaries with client/patients of Phoenix House
•Strong crisis management, conflict resolution and de-escalation skills
•Computer literate; demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office and web-based applications
•Demonstrated knowledge of EMR
