Phoenix House New England, founded in Rhode Island in 1967, is one of the region’s premier nonprofit substance abuse treatment agencies, annually serving nearly 7,000 individuals at more than 30 programs and facilities throughout New England. Administered through our offices located in Providence, the majority of our programs are accredited by CARF, the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, a nationally recognized standard of excellence. In Rhode Island, our programs provide a broad spectrum of services to adults, including: medically monitored withdrawal, residential and outpatient treatment, education and prevention services, and sober living and recovery support for men and women.

We are seeking a Reimbursement Specialist to be responsible for accounts receivables collections for the New England region (Rhode Island, Vermont, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire states). The position requires coordination and follow-up of claims throughout the revenue cycle, involving program staff .through all members of the billing staff to ensure optimal reimbursement for services provided to clients.



  • Bachelor’s degreein Business, Accounting, related field of study or comparable workexperience


  • Two years ofaccounts receivable or billing experience, preferably in non-profit orhealthcare industry


  • Excellentinterpersonal skills (communication and presentation skills) forcoordinating billing efforts with internal and external partners; respondingto questions/complaints about billing or services

  • Ability to work ina fast paced environment and to make decisions independently andcommunicate effectively when dealing with insurance companyrepresentatives, prospective clients, families, other staff members,leadership teams and other external partners.

  • Excellentorganizational, time management and project management skills

  • Proficiency in MSOffice products, especially Excel, and financial software
