The Counselor is responsible for the provision of clinical services to clients and their families, and for developing treatment plans and ongoing clinical documentation in the clinical management system.

This is an entry level counseling position operating with close supervision from a higher level counselor. In adolescent programs s/he may be described as a child care worker.

*Evening and weekend shifts may be required.

*Candidates with experience providing services to adults/adolescents with substance use/abuse disorders will receive supervision/support with acquiring registration/certification upon hire.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

•Conduct initial interview of participants in the program

•Conduct individual and group substance abuse counseling sessions

•Evaluate the progress of individual Participants assigned to their groups

•Work directly with the Participants to develop and implement treatment plans which shall be goal and action oriented.

•Notify the Program Director and CDCR staff of any problems/issues with any program or Participant services/treatment plans

•Conduct and participate in case conference and staff meetings

•Manage Program Milieu

•Conduct Staff on Duty responsibility when assigned

EDUCATION/CREDENTIALS:

•AA or higher degree and 2 years of experience working with substance and criminal population OR High school diploma/GED and 4 years of experience working with substance abuse and criminal population.

•Must be registered or certified as a Drug/Alcohol Counselor or be willing to obtain registration and/or certification within 30 days of hire

•Must possess and maintain a valid California Drivers license
