Our Phoenix Program is the flagship of Phoenix House Mid-Atlantic. Since 1962, this residential substance abuse treatment center for men has offered a convenient, comfortable, gender-specific setting. This nationally-accredited Phoenix Program helps clients break the cycle of drug and alcohol addiction and equips them with the tools they need to re-enter the community as responsible citizens in sustained recovery. Our counselors and clinicians use a cognitive-behavioral, 12-step approach, including medication and withdrawal management, to address a wide range of substance abuse and co-occurring mental health problems. In the same building, the Boys Recovery Lodge is an award-winning 20-bed program for teen boys with problems with drinking, marijuana, or other substances, ages 14-17. An innovative, nationally-accredited, residential substance abuse center, the program serves adolescents from its convenient Arlington location. An online school is provided and is offered daily during the normal school week. The program is designed not only to break the cycle of addiction, but also to help young people begin their recovery and return to health and productivity. Support services for families are also offered. Our addiction counselors, as well as our medical and psychiatric staff, use a cognitive-behavioral, 12-step approach, including medication and withdrawal management, to address a wide range of substance abuse and mental health problems.

We are currently seeking a psychiatrist to be responsible for prescribing medication and medication management working with the multidisciplinary treatment team. This is a per-diem opportunity



  • Board of Medicine - License to Practice Medicine & Surgery, M.D.

  • Controlled Substance Registration Certificate

  • Suboxone waiver


  • Minimum three (3) years experience in addictions treatment program preferred

  • Experience prescribing medication assisted treatment (MAT) with buprenorphine and naltrexone


  • Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Solid problem-solving and interpersonal skills with empathy and patience --working as a partner with staff to manage the care of the client population.

  • Sound leadership and organizational skills a must.

  • Strong interest in caring for a diverse patient population in a community-based organization.
