Phoenix House of Florida seeks a strategic and innovative development professional to become its next Director of Development. The successful candidate will be committed to PH’s mission and will serve as a frontline fundraiser and strategist. S/he will evaluate and build upon Phoenix House Florida’s existing program, formulate strategies to increase philanthropic support, and will engage existing board members as well as recruit new board members to expend contributed income.

The Director of Development will be a generalist, capable of major gift solicitation, as well as other aspects of fundraising. S/he will serve as a strategic partner to Executive Director of Florida Region and the board and will actively engage all board members in fundraising activities.

The Director of Development will report to SVP and Executive Director of Florida region as well as SVP and Chief Development officer of PHF and will work closely board members. S/he will work with program/clinical team to articulate compelling messaging and cases for philanthropic support, manage a portfolio of donor prospects, support the regional executive on tactics and strategies for specific development activities,

REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION/CREDENTIALS:

B.S. or B.A. Degree

EXPERIENCE:

Implement annual appeal efforts, create and manage a pipeline of prospects.

An accomplished front-line major gift solicitor

A generalist; knowledge of best practices in all areas of fundraising, including special events, annual campaign, planned giving, e-philanthropy

Knowledge of Tampa area communities

Demonstrated ability to strategize, set and meets goals

Experience with board engagement, cultivation, and development

Commitment to collaborative, team-driven work

Ability to articulate a vision that promotes Phoenix House’s efforts and is clear and inspiring to internal and external audiences

Energy, drive, and “can do” spirit

5 years of demonstrated experience in Board management, special event fundraising, project management and event management including large-scale, complex, high profile events with ability to plan and monitor projects from inception through completion

Experience in successfully negotiating all vendor contracts in support of development activities

Experience working with non-profit organizations, volunteers and volunteer committees preferred

Experience with event budget development

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Word and Excel.

Proficiency in Outlook applications. Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge preferred.
