Phoenix House Utilization Review / Assessment Counselor in Citra, Florida

The Utilization Review / Assessment Counselor is a hybrid role that has both UR and Assessment responsibilities. For UR, the successful candidate collects, analyzes, and provides pertinent, timely clinical information to fund sources and external utilization review personnel for authorization of stay and services. They completes initial, concurrent, and discharge authorizations and reviews through interactions with the patient’s insurance companies. For Assessment, the successful candidate is responsible for conducting and arranging assessments and intake interviews for prospective clients. This position obtains funding information (insurance, state funding, private pay information. etc.) and verifies it as needed. This position also provides a liaison with PH-Florida programs referral sources

REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION/CREDENTIALS:

  • Masters Degree in Administration/Counseling/Human Services

  • Or RN

  • Or related field preferred

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum three (3) years UR experience

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Knowledgeable of the medical aspects of addiction, including dual diagnosis, and must have excellent assessment skills

  • Possess a thorough knowledge of various treatment methods and experience working with diverse populations.

  • Strong computer knowledge, including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, record keeping and general office methods
