The Counselor will provide therapy, education and supportive services to clients and their families. He will provide, group and individual counseling , according to each client’s level of care, as well as treatment and discharge planning to all clients on his caseload. The Counselor promotes a sound therapeutic treatment community at all levels of care.

REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION/CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in an appropriate field from an accredited institution, or Bachelor degree with an equivalent combination of education and experience.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Licensed as a Mental Health, or Marriage and Family, and/or a Substance use

  • Counselor, or working towards eligibility for these.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Skill in treatment of substance abusing populations, and in co-occurring mental health disorders

  • Ability to work and communicate with others

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Carry a caseload of up to 5 clients and provide them with individual, group and family counseling as assigned.

  • Maintain client charts to comply with CARF and/or other state agency standards, using the Welligent Electronic Health Record. (EHR)

  • Maintain complete, timely, confidential and accurate treatment notes, including evaluation reports, progress and case conference notes, treatment plans, discharge summaries, and aftercare plans.

  • Maintain ongoing communication between team members to help shape the milieu and the community, to identify problems and possible solutions, and to help coordinate the smooth occurrence of activities.

  • Facilitate different types of group therapies and psycho-educational groups, including IOP (3hr) groups.

  • Deliver treatment using evidence-based protocols, therapies and practices i.eMET/CBT5; ACRA; MI

  • Attend weekly administrative and clinical supervision with on- site supervisor(s), as necessary to perform job.

  • Develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with other clinical/educational/administrative staff in and outside of Phoenix House, the court system, social service agencies, advocacy groups, outpatient therapists, etc.

  • Assist in the provision of staff orientation and ongoing training regarding clinical policies and procedures

  • Serve as a role model, by demonstrating a good work ethic (punctuality, dependability, organization and follow through) to peers and to clients, families and the community.

  • Assist with special clinical projects (client surveys, QA committee, EBPS, etc.) as directed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
