Phoenix House Risk Reduction Interventionist in St Albans, Vermont

The Risk Reduction Interventionist is responsible to deliver services to groups of moderate to high risk offenders in the assigned region. The goal of this position is to use specific curricula designed to address anti-social thinking and behaviors in order to reduce the risk of recidivism upon re-entry into or within the community.

The Interventionist is responsible, as needed, to advocate, coordinate, collaborate and develop plans in a proactive array of comprehensive and individualized recommendations for services with the Department of Corrections staff.

The Interventionist activities are provided direct supervision by the Phoenix House Lead Interventionist who works collaboratively with the VT Department of Corrections Administrative Manager and both responsible for the service sites.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include:

  • Provide DOC contracted delivery of risk reducing activities

  • Facilitate Evidenced-based curriculum and coordinate collaborative communication with Parole and Probation services as needed.

  • Provide groups in an understanding, empathetic manner within the criminal justice system.

  • Respond to client crises and emergencies as needed.

  • Maintain accurate and timely case and group notes. Document developments and important events in accordance with best practice standards for reporting and record keeping.

  • Maintain client charts to comply with Phoenix House /VTDOC and/or other state agency standards, using the Electronic Health Record (OMS).

  • Participate in weekly / monthly meetings as required.

  • Attend and participate in meetings and required trainings by Phoenix House and the VTDOC.

  • Participate in individual and/or group supervision on a regular basis with the Lead Interventionist and engage actively in creating your Professional Development Plan with clear goals and objectives.

  • Participate in ongoing Interventionist Performance evaluations; review with the Lead Interventionist.

  • Maintain ADP files and complete Relias E-learning requirements in a timely fashion.

  • Complete administrative work in support of the program.

  • Be flexible to work at any of the contracted service sites as needed.

  • Serve as a role model through positive, appropriate conduct and participation in special agency events. Project a good image to the public.

  • Dress in a professional manner.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by Lead Interventionist or their assignee.

COMPETENCIES

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Electronic Health Record OMS system sufficient to fulfill the duties required by this position is expected within 30 days of employment.

  • Demonstrate empathy and compassion for clients in group, individual counseling, and daily interactions.

  • Maintain objectivity towards all clients and make clinical decisions based on accurate information.

  • Demonstrate appropriate boundaries between self and clients.

  • Promote self-help concept within program. Encourage clients to create their own solutions and encourage clients to use each other for support.

  • Play appropriate interventionist role, serving as guide in the self-help recovery process.

  • Track progress of clients assigned to caseload.

  • Implement daily schedule of program activities. Provide structure and accountability. Monitor and facilitate program activities. Engage in monitoring activities.

  • Work cooperatively with others and supervisors.

  • Work in a Trauma-Informed manner when interacting with clients.

  • Demonstrate patience and consideration when assisting others.

  • Demonstrate thoughtful decision-making.

  • Promote choice and empowerment.

  • Understand the stages of change.

  • Utilize gender sensitive and culturally appropriate practices.

  • Ensure client confidentiality in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

High School diploma, Bachelor Degree or higher preferred from an accredited institution or equivalent combination of knowledge and experience.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

Attainment of certification as required by funding/licensing sources (demonstrable pursuit of certification with timetable for achievement is acceptable.)
